To my surprise, I came across a video on YouTube that explained how Whirlpool has been donating washing machines and dryers to public schools throughout the United States. At first glance, I thought how charitable that is, and as the video continued, facts appeared across the screen, and they were disturbing.
“Every day in the United States, more than 4,000 kids drop out of school.”
“Kids who drop out have a 40% higher unemployment rate.”
“Kids who drop out have a 70% higher rate of government assistance.”
“Kids who drop out are more than 8 times as likely to be incarcerated.”
“EVERYDAY thousands of kids miss school because they lack one thing:
“With care counts, over 90% of tracked students increased attendance over this previous year.”1
After I read these facts and watched the rest of the video, I was impelled to write about this campaign that Whirlpool has begun. This is a demonstration of charity and compassion as well as consideration about the children who are the future of this country and our world.
To aid children in ways that will uplift their minds, to instill in them self-regard, compassion, charity, intelligence, and knowledge makes for a hopeful future generation.
Thank you, Whirlpool, for caring and sharing and for all those who help in keeping this program successful.
